PHILADELPHIA -Youth Week gave Freedom Credit Union an opportunity to focus on both financial literacy and child safety. Throughout the week, credit union staffers distributed free money management booklets for children, college funding guides, coloring books, and other gifts and treats to parents and kids alike. In addition, kids participated in a jelly-bean counting contest for a chance to win prizes that doubled as "lessons in savings": half of the prize would be awarded in the form of a gift card to a local toy store, while the other half of the prize would be deposited into their credit union savings account. Freedom CU also distributed ChildPrint ID Kits, which included spaces for parents to record their children's medical and dental information, and full fingerprints. Officers from the Philadelphia and Warminster Township Police Departments were on hand to fingerprint the children.
