Retail merchandising and design features include a mountain-bike check stand, toboggan kiosks, snowshoes suspended from the ceiling, and mountain landscape teller line, with an overall mood of a ski lodge rather than a credit union even complete with a stone fireplace. Merchandising and lifestyle messaging come to life in the three-dimensional environment and fully supporting the lifestyle connection and physical/financial fitness retail branch concept. Future Retail Branches Planned: The retail prototype has been deployed at several subsequent branches at a scale/intensity that has been calibrated to appropriate markets and lease space. Norlarco has subsequently remodeled four branches and built four additional branches since the first prototype. Measurements of Success: After opening, market share and loan volume increased at a record pace. Since the initial implementation of first retail branch environment three years ago in 2001 and subsequent branches with similar features, the credit union’s asset size has increased over 60%.
