ALEXANDRIA, Va. – Comments from credit unions, on-site testing, internal and external users, and historical tracking results went into the redesign NCUA's Web site unveiled recently. "I am pleased to announce this step in what is a continuing need to improve the agency's delivery of information and to maintain transparency and efficiency in today's electronic age," NCUA Chairman Dennis Dollar said. NCUA's home page now offers much more information and simplified access and navigation, including direct links to the latest data for federally insured credit unions, Letters to Credit Unions, regulations, and legal opinion letters. The agency also integrated the AltaVista search engine, which is visible on every page, for more easily conducting complex searches. The redesigned site features navigation panels across the top and down the left side for speedier movement through the Web site. "The NCUA Web site, which contains over 5,000 pages, averages 35,000 page views a day from outside the agency," NCUA Public & Congressional Affairs Director Clifford Northup said. "NCUA's www.ncua.gov consistently ranks as the most visited site when the term "credit union" is searched on Google, Yahoo or Alta Vista search engines." The agency welcomes any comments on the new site.
