SAN ANTONIO, Texas. – Randolph Brooks FCU, a $2 billion credit union with 224,000 members and an ATM fleet of 30 machines, recently signed its fourth surcharge-free ATM agreement with another credit union in Texas. The San-Antonio-based credit union agreed to share ATMs with the $461 million Firstmark Credit Union, also based in the San Antonio area. The deal brings the number of surcharge free ATMs for the two credit union's 300,000 members to 50 in the San Antonio area. Randolph Brooks also has ATM sharing agreements with Austin Federal Credit Union, headquartered in Austin, Texas, the Capitol Credit Union, also based in Austin and the River City FCU, also based in San Antonio. Tracy Hennigan, a spokesman for the credit union, would not comment on why Randolph Brooks is not a member of the CO-OP Network, the nation's largest credit union owned ATM network based in Ontario, California. Jim Hanisch, executive vice president of the CO-OP Network, said the Network had discussed Randolph Brooks joining the CO-OP but that there were "third party" technical issues which had barred any progress forward. "We are working on resolving those and hope to have them out of the way as obstacles in the next three to six months," Hanisch said, adding that the CO-OP hoped that the $2 billion credit union would join the Network. "Of course there are no guarantees," Hanisch added, "but we think we offer access that Randolph Brooks would like to provide its members."
