The final data for 2003 is in from VISA and it shows that the card association overall continued to show strong growth in its sales and cash, the number of cards and the amounts of credit outstanding. Sales and cash volume increased every quarter in 2003 by at least 9.0% and the number of cards by at least 1.5% in the second quarter, the lowest by far of the year. Significantly, even though the second quarter showed drops in the growth of both sales and numbers of cards, the amount of credit outstanding continued its steady growth.
