Comparing the latest listing of the top 100 credit unions by assets as of December 2003 to December 2002 shows not only are there more credit unions with more than $1 billion in assets, but the number of CUs with more than $2 billion in assets is also growing. As of Dec. 2003, there were 83 CUs with over a billion dollars in assets; at the same time in 2002 there were only 72. Similarly 2003 ended with 24 CUs having at least $2 billion in assets, but in Dec. 2002 there were 21.
