MELVILLE, N.Y. – GrooveCar, an auto resource and vehicle buying service for more than one million members throughout Long Island and the five boroughs, has launched what it says is the first automotive Web site, buying service, and dealer network in Spanish on Long Island. GrooveCar joined with the Long Island Hispanic Chamber of Commerce to introduce GrooveCar En Espanol. The official launch date for the Web site was April 22. "If savvy car buyers, who have a full command of the English language, find purchasing a vehicle a daunting task, can you imagine the financial risk Hispanic car buyers are facing?" GrooveCar President David Jacobson asked. "Groovecar En Espanol has changed all the rules." Celeste Hernandex, executive director of the Long Island Hispanic Chamber of Commerce said noted that, "The Hispanic, Latino population on Long Island has been and continues to grow at a very fast pace. They are part of a consumer group that will bring an estimated $1 trillion in purchasing power to the general U.S. market within four years. The Long Island Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is proud to co-sponsor this event as it speaks volumes for the strides made by the Hispanic, Latino community." She added that GrooveCar En Espanol "will serve as a catalyst to secure procurement opportunities for our members with the local automotive community." According to the LIHCC, the resources available to help Hispanic speaking car buyers to shop, purchase and finance vehicles has until now been very limited or unavailable. Research shows that consumers who speak little or no English typically pay higher prices for cars, as well as finance at higher interest rates. GrooveCar En Espanol will provide tools and resources to Long Island's Hispanic car buying community including providing them a full menu of research and comparison tools in Spanish a toll-free phone buying service, as well as specially trained Spanish speaking representatives in most of their 200 network auto dealerships.
