WASHINGTON-According to the National Cooperative Business Association, several .coop names that credit unions may be interested in were not renewed. The list of available domain names includes CUhere.coop, our.coop and money.coop, as well as potential acronym names like scu.coop and pcu.coop. A lot of these are becoming available now because they were registered two years ago when .coop was launched and are now expiring. A list of newly expired names is available at http://www.nic.coop/downloads/DeletedDomains.xls. To determine if the names have already been snatched up, go to http://www.coop, enter it in the box at the top of the page, and the system will say if the name is still available. Once a desired name is found to be available, it can be registered at http://www.domainbank.coop. "This is the chance some co-ops have been waiting for," Richard Dines of NCBA, which won approval for the .coop Internet domain in November 2000, said. "Some of the newly available names will fit their needs perfectly."
