BATON ROUGE, La. – Baton Rouge Teachers Credit Union is hoping its expanded charter and new moniker will send home the message that membership is "not just for teachers." The $212 million credit union received NCUA approval in February to serve nine parishes in the Greater Baton Rouge area and is now known as Neighbors Federal Credit Union. Originally chartered in 1954, the credit union main membership base has been teachers and staff in the educational community. Norman Thompson, president/CEO said having a new name is the best way to communicate the ability to offer services to a broader group even though it has reached out to students and family members in the past. Neighbors FCU serves 40,732 members.
