SAN JOSE, Calif. – Technology CU has received permission fromthe California Department of Financial Institutions to become acommunity-based credit union. The $1 billion credit union'sfield-of-membership will include Santa Clara, Alameda, and SanMateo counties. Technology CU will also continue to serve theemployees of high-tech companies in California and their familymembers. Technology CU currently has more than 75,000 members.“While anyone from the three counties is now eligible to join, itis the intention of the credit union to continue to focus on thefinancial needs of professionals from technology companies andother professional organizations,” said Technology CU President/CEOKen Burns. “Our charter expansion allows us to provide services toprofessionals not directly connected to technology with similardemographic characteristics and financial needs.” Technology CU hassix full-service branches in the Silicon Valley.
