PINE BROOK, N.J. – CU National Mortgage, a division of US Mortgage, has introduced a Portfolio Management Program designed to help credit unions achieve optimal loan portfolio management by allowing them to sell existing first mortgage loans in pools of any size. Given the current low interest rate environment and the uncertainty over how much longer it will persist, CU National Mortgage, which works exclusively with CUs and members, said “the timing of the announcement is critical” so CUs can sell loans they've retained in their portfolio. Under the new program, CU National Mortgage will provide CUs with a secondary market expert to help them with the process of selling their existing first mortgages. According to the program, after a review of the information is submitted, a current market price is communicated back to the CUs, and if the CU accepts the price then the deal is struck and the funds are delivered.
