COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina is following the lead of several states that have asked persons to remove their hats, hoods and sunglasses to more easily identify potential robbers. In this instance, the South Carolina Bankers Association will kick off the identity initiative at a March 4 conference sponsored by the United States Attorney Office's Robbery Victims Committee. SCBA President Lloyd Hendricks said the South Carolina CU League, the U.S. Attorney's Office, the FBI, the S.C. Sheriffs' Association and local law enforcement agencies around the state have endorsed the `no hats, no, hoods, no sunglasses policy. South Carolina financial institutions joins credit unions and banks in other states including Missouri, Massachusetts and Oklahoma that have started posting signs to deter would-be robbers or catch robbers.
