SAN DIEGO - Golf tournaments are rampant in the credit unionindustry, but it's not often that a former U.S. Open championparticipates. At NAFCU's recent CEO Conference in San Diego, NAFCUServices Corporation Preferred Partners hosted a golf tournament inwhich 1987 U.S. Open Champion Scott Simpson played and put on aclinic for the other players. Simpson played a par three with eachfoursome. "He was so accommodating. His clinic went over on time. Ihad to cut it off to keep things moving. Everyone was thrilled withhim," said NSC President Keith Nolan. Simpson is probably bestknown professionally for his dramatic win at the U.S. Open in 1987where he trailed Tom Watson by one stroke entering the final round,but won by nailing birdies on the 14th, 15th and 16th holes.
