ARLINGTON, Va. – Two large credit unions – the $1.3 billion Bellco, Denver, and the $800 million Eglin FCU, Fort Walton Beach, Florida – have joined the CO-OP Network. CO-OP Network is the largest credit union owned, surcharge free ATM network in the country. Bellco's move will bring over 140,000 members access to almost 21,000 surcharge-free ATMs. Eglin joining will offer 100,000 members access to more surcharge free machines. "Large ATM networks are traditionally found with the nation's largest banks, until now," says Doug Ferraro, president and CEO of Bellco Credit Union. "Our newly expanded surcharge-free network not only results in more convenient locations, it will also save members money. A recent study by Bankrate.com found that the average consumer spends $122 in ATM fees annually." In addition to membership in CO-OP Network, Bellco maintains a relationship with FastBank Free that offers 400 surcharge-free ATMs in Colorado alone, the credit union said. Eglin currently has a fleet of over 30 ATMs.
