PASADENA, Calif. -Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. recentlyselected Wescom Credit Union to offer financial services to its1,800 employees at its Cypress, Calif. facility. Mitsubishi MotorsNorth America, Inc. is responsible for all of the North Americanoperations of Mitsubishi Motors Corp., which manufactures,distributes, finances and markets Mitsubishi brand coupes,convertibles, sedans and sport utility vehicles through a networkof nearly 700 dealers in the United States, Canada, Mexico and theCaribbean. As part of the agreement, a Wescom ATM and postage stampmachine was installed at the company's Cypress facility. MMNAemployees recently opened 47 new accounts with Wescom during anon-site visit, said Max Sucee, Wescom public relations specialist.MMNA is one of 25 Southern Calif.-based Wescom select employeegroups with more than 1,200 employees, joining SBC Communications,Inc., Quiksilver, Inc., St. John Knits, Inc., Toshiba, Ingram MicroInc. and Wet Seal, Inc. Wescom serves more than 200,000 members andhas $2.5 billion in assets. A Wescom business development officerwill coordinate visits between MMNA employees and Wescom FinancialServices consultants and real estate representatives as well as anin-house business development coordinator. Wescom will alsocoordinate its New Member Rewards Program, which employees get1,000 Wescom Credit Card Rewards Points, pre-approved overdraftline-of-credit for $250, a $50 auto refinance bonus, $150 off theprocessing fees when they get a mortgage loan from Wescom and freeWescom checks. MMNA employees will soon have access to Wescom'smember-focused and sponsor group newsletters via MMNA's intranet.Discussions between Wescom and MMNA began when Wescom BusinessDevelopment Officer Tina Covington met with human resourcesrepresentatives at the motor company. Bodington identifiedMitsubishi's immediate need for an ATM, discussed that opportunitywith Wescom senior management and provided an overview of what thecredit union could offer to MMNA. “It is an honor to be selected asthe credit union for the employees of an organization with theworldwide status and presence of Mitsubishi Motors,” said DarrenWilliams, Wescom president/CEO. MMNA Benefits Manager Maria Beanesaid Wescom's “overall member-first attitude” led to the company toselect Wescom. “Wescom Credit Union's member benefits, technicalexpertise, (and) range of financial products led to our decision toselect them as our employee credit union,” Beane said. “We wantedto provide our employees with the best full-service financialinstitution possible.” [email protected]
