SEATTLE - Robert Harvey, president and CEO of SeattleMetropolitan Credit Union has been named Executive of the Year bythe Credit Union Executives Society. CUES recognized Harvey at itsCEO Network meeting in Naples, Fla. on Nov. 2. "Bob Harvey is anoutstanding executive and he richly deserves this recognition,"said CUES President/CEO Fred Johnson. "It's people like Bob who aretransforming the credit union industry." Since Harvey took the helmat SMCU in 1992, assets grew from $125 million to more than $380million, membership increased by 10,000 to its current 36,000 and125 select employee groups have been added. He also serves on theWashington Credit Union League's Board, is vice chair of its stategovernmental affairs committee, is a director of WesCorp, a boardmember of the African-American Credit Union Coalition and member ofthe Filene Research Institute's Council. In September, Harvey wasnamed Credit Union Professional of the Year by the WashingtonCredit Union League. Recipients of the CUES award must show"exceptional leadership skills, be committed to professionaldevelopment, contribute successfully to their credit union, play anactive role in CUES and its Councils, and actively participate incivic and community affairs."
