PORTLAND, Ore. - In what would be the largest natural personcredit union merger ever, the $1.4 billion Portland Teachers CreditUnion and the $650 million Oregon Community Credit Union arediscussing a potential merger. As of press time, nothing definitivehad been completed. At this point the two boards have just agreedto discuss the possibility. Oregon Community CU is the formerU-Lane-O CU. It changed its name earlier this year after convertingto a community charter that allows it to serve anyone living orworking in 10 counties in Western Oregon. Portland Teachers CU'sFOM includes employees of schools and nonprofit educationalorganizations and their families in five Western Oregon counties.There would be some overlap if a merger deal was completed. BothCUs serve members in the counties of Washington, Multnomah,Yamhill, Columbia and Clackamas.
