MARKS, Miss. – Robert Jackson, CEO of the Quitman Tri-County Development Corporation as well as Treasurer of the Quitman Tri-County FCU and an officer with the National Federation of CDCU has won a landslide victory for a seat in the state Senate in Mississippi. Jackson, a Democrat, won his race 70% to 28% versus relatively token Republican opposition. “I’m elated, and I’m looking forward to serving the people in District 11,” Jackson told the Clarksdale Press Register after the votes were counted at the Coahoma County Courthouse last Tuesday night. “I’d like to thank Coahoma County for a very convincing win. I got 70% of the vote, and that’s a mandate from the people in this county that they wanted me to serve them.” Jackson is on record as saying that his goals in the Senate include helping bring more jobs and development dollars to the Mississippi delta communities that Quitman/Tri-County serves.
