LOMPOC, Calif. – After some 45 years, the winds of name change have finally swept up Vandenberg Federal Credit Union. The $400 million credit union has changed its name to CoastHills FCU. According to CoastHills FCU Public Relations Director Paulette Cunningham, the board voted unanimously for a name change in February when focus groups revealed that although consumers loved the VFCU name it left many questioning or doubting they could join the credit union if they did not have military ties. The community credit union tapped Seattle-based naming specialists Weber Marketing Group and James Clark Design Images to help design a new name that would be more inclusive. According to Weber Marketing Group CEO Mark Weber, "the new name captures the strength and integrity of the credit union's past, appeals to many generations and speaks to the unique value and personal service members expect from the credit union." "We feel very confident that with our new name we can better serve both existing members and new members who want to bank with an organization committed to providing quality service that exceeds our members expectations," said CoastHills FCU CEO Diana Dykstra.
