SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The San Antonio Federal Credit Union (SACU) Training and Development department has been singled out for honors. The $1.5 billion credit union has been named the "2002 Training Organization of the Year" by the San Antonio Chapter of the American Society for Training and Development. The award recognizes a company's commitment to the quest for excellence through employee learning and growing. Among the innovative elements cited were implementation of organization-wide weekly branch training and creating "SACU University Online," a collection of credit-union specific education modules, available to all employees through its Intranet. "I'm honored and extremely proud of our Training Team. They did a wonderful job putting this innovative program together and implementing it, but our employees truly deserve a lot of credit as well," said SACU President/CEO Jeff Farver. "We require 48 hours of training each year, but our employees give us an average of 55 hours. This is true commitment to employee learning and growing. ASTD knows what is involved to design and implement a program such as this. Recognition from others is wonderful, but coming from our peers, it is especially gratifying."
