SHOREVIEW, Minn. – Add check printer Deluxe Corporation to the growing list of companies embracing Consumer-Driven Health Care programs. Deluxe has recently tapped Alexandria, Virginia-based health care provider Lumenos to offer its nearly 6,000 employees a CDHC program. Through the CDHC program an employer makes an annual allocation to each participating employee's Health Savings Account (HSA). Employees use their HSA to pay for routine medical expenses. A separate benefit covers 100% of certain preventive care services, without any out-of-pocket expenses for the employee or deductions from their HSA. The dollars remaining at the end of the year can be rolled over and accumulate in the employee's HSA for future health care needs. In addition, the program includes a traditional health coverage component if an employee's expenses exceed his or her HSA dollars. According to Deluxe Corporation Director of Benefits Hope Newland, "the move will not only give employees more control over their own health care dollars and decisions but also provides educational tools to help employees maintain healthy productive lifestyles." The open enrollment period starts in October. -
