RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. – The California Credit Union League's newly formed Latino Network will hold its first Webcast on Sept. 29 to educate credit unions on the multifaceted Latino market and how credit unions can serve this rapidly growing population. Latinos currently represent 13.1% of the U.S. population and are the fastest growing ethnic group in the country. A recent study from the University of Georgia showed Hispanic buying power has increased almost 30% in the last three years. The Webcast will be presented by David Grace, financial services and regulatory manager of the World Council of Credit Unions. Among the topics that will be covered are the challenges of successfully marketing to the diversified Latino community and impediments and infrastructure challenges of expanding services to the market. The event is open to members and non-members of the Latino Network. "As financial institutions dedicated to bettering people's lives, it's extremely important that credit unions in states that, like California, have a large Latino population understand how to serve this market," said RaAnn Wood, CCUL professional networks manager.
