Two of the most helpful articles I have ever read in Credit Union Times were in the August 20th issue. On page 40 and elsewhere in that issue you had references to Zion's Bancorp as leading the credit union taxation drive in Utah. I have been following the Utah story for a while, but this is the first time I noticed your strong effort to point out who was behind the taxation push. I was quite shocked to find out that one of the leaders in this taxation movement was one in which we had an online trading account with. We are, or should I say were, a user of Zion Bancorp's online trading site (www.govrate.com) for several years. I did not even wait for business hours to open to cancel our account with them. I left a message with them on a Sunday afternoon and followed up with a phone call Monday morning to make sure they closed our account, and to make sure they knew the reason why. I have one request. Is there any way Credit Union Times can publish a full list of the banks that are behind this credit union taxation issue so we and other credit unions can see if we/they do business with them? I know that not all banks are anti-credit union, so I am a strong opponent of those who say credit unions should not do business with banks at all. Even in this area, there are at least two anti-credit union banks that we know of, but there are several that are supportive of us. I am not willing to stop doing business with banks in general, but I am extremely willing to stop doing business with banks that want us taxed. The problem is that we need publications, such as Credit Union Times, to tell us who those banks are. Mark Baron President Armour Kankakee CU Bradley, Ill.
