WASHINGTON – Not even online bill pay users know all that their credit union's bill pay service does. That and other awareness issues are hurting bill pay adoption according to a just-released survey from Callahan & Associates. The survey was based on 26,724 member responses, 15,506 from non-bill pay users and 11,201 from bill pay users. Half of the non-users were unfamiliar with the features and benefits of bill pay, while just 16% were very familiar. Of the users, many said they would use the service even more if the credit union addressed some things with the service. Some of the top reasons they go with other bill paying methods other than online bill pay include: * Lower cost or lack of any cost, * Ease of sign-up and/or making payments, * Speedier crediting of payments, * Discounts or requirements for automatic withdrawals by some billers. The credit unions in the survey ranged from $199 million to $2.83 billion in assets. [email protected]
