Affinity Plus Federal Credit Union, St. Paul, Minn., has been named one of the "Great Places to Work in the Twin Cities" by The Business Journal. Based on being a top scorer from employee attitude surveys, Affinity Plus FCU was chosen as one of only 18 top organizations in the Twin Cities to get selected this year. Northwest Federal Credit Union, Va., has been named the 2003 "Business of the Year" by the Vienna Tysons Chamber of Commerce. This distinction was bestowed on NWFCU after only two years of operation in the Vienna, Virginia area. Missouri Credit Union Association, St. Louis, has announced that three Missouri credit unions have placed first on the state level of the 2003 Desjardins Youth Financial Education Awards competition. The winners are CSD Credit Union, Midwest United Credit Union, and Anheuser-Busch Employees' Credit Union. MCUA will award plaques to the winning credit unions at its annual business meeting, scheduled for March 30, 2004 in Jefferson City. Chetco Federal Credit Union, Harbor, Ore. has been presented the 2003 Business of the Year by the Brookings/Harbor Chamber of Commerce. Every year the board of the Brookings/Harbor Chamber of Commerce recognizes one business for exemplary business practices such as participation in community projects that lead towards civic improvement, excellence in products and/or service, and overall contributions toward a healthy economy. New York State Credit Union League, Latham, has announced that three New York credit unions have received the state's Desjardins Youth Financial Education Award. The award is presented in recognition of a credit union's leadership in the youth financial education arena. This year's winners are Alternatives FCU Sidney FCU, and Teachers FCU. Air Force Federal Credit Union, San Antonio, Texas, has been selected the AFA-Texas Civilian Organization of the Year by the Air Force Association. The announcement was made by Dennis Mathis, President of the Air Force Association of Texas. Charlotte Postal Credit Union, N.C., (CPCU) has won a first place award in the Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Recognition Award Program for credit unions. CPCU's program centered around Westerly Hills A+ Academy and over the last year CPCU held fundraisers to purchase 200 RCA Tape Recorders for WHE's reading program. Also, members of the CPCU staff tutored children at WHE in reading, math and spelling during the 2002-2003 school year. LA DOTD Federal Credit Union, Calif., has received the Best Annual Report and Best Member Newsletter awards for credit unions with $150 million in assets or less by NAFCU. This was the first time LA DOTD FCU participated in this competition, which was judged on content, imagery, circulation, goals/objectives and accomplishments.
