SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – The Service Centers Corporation, one of the three alternatives of credit union shared branching in the United States and a wholly-owned subsidiary of CO-OP Network, has added the $1.1 billion Northwest Federal Credit Union, based in Herndon, Virginia, to its shared branching network. Dan Balagna, SCC CEO, reported that SCC's presence in the Washington D.C. suburbs, where Northwest FCU is based, as well as offering a nationwide presence to Northwest's 64,000 members from a variety of agencies of the federal government, were both factors in Northwest's decision. "Branch locations are a key component in attracting – and retaining – members," said Northwest FCU CEO Juri Valdov. "Northwest Fed has branches in Herndon and Vienna (Virginia), and by joining SCC, we're able to add access to more than 1,000 branches nationally, including more than 10 in the D.C. area, without the expense of building, staffing or managing the facility."
