COVINA, Calif. – The Christian Community Credit Union has donated a record-breaking $200,000 to Christian-related causes this summer through its "Cards that Give to Missions & Ministries" credit card program. "When members decide to use their CCCU credit cards exclusively, and put the other cards away, the potential donations to missions and ministries are phenomenal," said CCCU President/CEO John Walling. The program is simple. Every time members make a purchase using their CCCU credit or debit card, the credit union donates a portion of the interchange income, which is the amount merchants pay to card issuers, to missions and ministries. The donation is generated from members' credit card activity and not through direct donation from their credit or debit card. Last fall, CCCU introduced two new credit cards to the program- Visa Platinum with no annual fee and Visa Platinum Plus, which earns rewards good for travel and merchandise. Since the program's inception in 1994, CCCU has donated a total of $1.3 million.
