WASHINGTON-The American Bankers Association's nominating committee has laid out its candidates for officers and board members for 2003-2004. The officers, to be elected during ABA's annual convention in Hawaii this September, include: * Chairman: C. Kendric Fergeson, chairman, NBanC, Altus, Okla.; * Chairman-Elect: Elizabeth A. Duke, executive vice president, community bank development, SouthTrust Corp., Virginia Beach, Va.; * Vice Chairman: Harris H. Simmons, chairman, president and CEO, Zions Bancorporation, Salt Lake City; and * Treasurer: Robert F. Lowe, chairman and CEO, Lexington State Bank, Lexington, N.C. The committee also made these board nominations: * Representing community banks: Leslie R. Andersen, president and CEO, Bank of Bennington, Bennington, Neb., and Peter C. Brown, chairman, president and CEO, Ledyard National Bank, Hanover, N.H.; * Representing mid-size banks: David S. Hickman, chairman and CEO, United Bank & Trust, Tecumseh, Mich., and Stephen P. Wilson, chairman, president and CEO, Lebanon Citizens National Bank, Lebanon, Ohio; and * Representing large banks: Alexander R. M. Boyle, vice chairman, Chevy Chase Bank, Bethesda, Md., David A. Daberko, chairman and CEO, National City Corp., Cleveland, Ohio, and Gary L. Tice, chairman of the board, First National Bank of Florida, Naples, Fla. Mr. Tice will fill a two-year unexpired term on the ABA board.
