ALEXANDRIA, Va.-The June 30 hearing regarding the eligibility of some NCUA employees as part of the bargaining unit has been continued until July 21, according to sources from NCUA and the National Treasury Employees Union. While the Federal Labor Relations Authority arbitrator met with the feuding groups for a couple of days, a decision on each of the 480 positions in question has yet to be rendered, according to NTEU Spokesperson Sheila McCormick. The case is based on the petition NTEU circulated among NCUA employees on holding a vote to establish a union at the agency. NTEU achieved a 40% approval, above the necessary 30% of eligible employees, but NCUA is challenging the eligibility of 480 employees for the potential union, many in examiner positions, which NCUA considers management.
