EAST LANSING, Mich. -Michigan State University Federal Credit Union has pledged to donate $2.5 million to its Study Abroad Scholarship program at Michigan State University. When fully funded in five years, the MSUFCU Study Abroad Scholarship will offer at least 130 scholarships in amounts from $500 to $2,000. The scholarship competition will be open to qualified students to help offset additional costs associated with studying abroad. Michigan State University has the most students participating in study abroad initiatives in the nation, currently offering nearly 200 programs in more then 50 countries on all 7 continents. "It is our goal to be the leader in serving MSU, as well as our local community," said MSU FCU President/CEO Patrick M. McPharlin. "Our board of directors feel that the study abroad program will enhance our students' confidence, offers them a broad perspective on human relations and will make them more valuable world citizens. Our commitment to the university through the creation of this scholarship can only further enhance the long-term partnership enjoyed by both MSU and the credit union."
