WASHINGTON-The Federal Reserve Consumer Advisory Council plans to debate Fair Credit Reporting Act preemption issues during its next meeting scheduled for Thursday, June 26. Typically, a couple of Fed governors attend the meeting. Other items on the meeting's agenda include standardizing short-form privacy notices, successful programs to counter predatory lending and the unsolicited issuance of activated debit and credit cards to current accountholders. The Fed Board is requesting public comment on any of these issues. To attend the meeting, register at https://www.federalreserve.gov/secure/forms/cacregistration.cfm by June 24. The CAC's advises the Fed Board on its responsibilities under the consumer financial services laws and other matters.
