MADISON, Wis. – The National Credit Union Foundation has awarded the World Council of Credit Unions a $65,000 grant in support of WOCCU's Partnership Program. The program works to build relationships between state leagues and credit union movements in developing nations through exchange visits between partnered state leagues and interested countries. Ongoing relationships can bring about educational, marketing, and materials exchanges. Other funding partners include state leagues, USAID, and U.S. Central Credit Union. "We're pleased to be able to continue to support this worthwhile program of WOCCU," said Francois Henriquez, II, senior vice president/general counsel of U.S. Central CU and NCUF Grant Committee chair. "It's through the efforts of programs such as this that we can ensure people around the world will have access to affordable financial services through credit unions." States currently involved in the project include: California, Colorado, Connecticut, Georgia, Illinois, Louisiana, Maine, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Washington, and the District of Columbia.
