Idaho Credit Union League, Boise, has recognized several Idaho credit unions for their fundraising efforts for Credit Unions for Kids, an organization that raised funds for the Children's Miracle Network. Forty-two credit unions and credit union-related organizations participated in the campaign, raising nearly $139,000 in the 2002 campaign season. CANCO Credit Union, Inkom Cement Employees Credit Union, Cassia County Education Association Credit Union, Idaho United Credit Union, Pine Tree Community Credit Union, Lewis Clark Credit Union, Idahy Federal Credit Union and Boise Telco Federal Credit Union were all recognized for their efforts. Schools Financial Credit Union, Sacramento, Calif., has honored five outstanding local teachers with the Teacher Appreciation Award. The award is part of the credit union's Educator Rewards program, a custom package of benefits for educational employees. Pauline Gilmour, Norma Jarvos, Mitch Stricker, Stan Rudger, and Robin Zaragoza were each presented $500 in recognition of their creative and fun approach to education. Ste. Croix Regional Federal Credit Union, Lewiston, Maine, Controller Donna E. Theberge, has been awarded the Jeannette G. Morin Award for Outstanding Credit Union Employee, at the Maine Credit Union League Convention in Portland. This award honors an outstanding credit union employee. Chetco Federal Credit Union, Harbor Ore., has honored seven students with Certificates of Recognition for their perfect attendance during the second semester of Brookings-Harbor High School. The students – Nick Wright, Curtis Bones, Alishia Fleshman, Adriana Aceves, Hailee Gardner, Teri Garvin and Devin Tidwell- were then entered in a drawing for a top of the line mountain bike, provided by Chetco FCU and The Escape Hatch. Lucky winner Bones rode away with the bike. South Carolina Credit Union League, Columbia, has honored Lexington High School lead teacher Kelly Evans with the Financial Literacy Educator of the Year award. Evans was presented a plaque and $1,000 check from the Carolina's Credit Union Foundation. Ent Federal Credit Union, Colorado Springs, has received a Campaign of Distinction award from Pikes Peak United Way. The award recognized Ent Federal employees' campaign contribution of nearly $70,000, which was raised through paycheck pledges and workplace events. Pennsylvania Credit Union Association, Harrisburg, has presented the first-place Louise Herring Award for Philosophy in Action to US Airways Federal Credit Union in Moon Township. In addition, the following two credit unions were awarded honorable mentions: Belco Community Credit Union of Harrisburg and LANCO Federal Credit Union of Lancaster. The Louise Herring Award is presented annually to credit unions that implement programs and services that exemplify the credit union operating philosophy of "People Helping People" Credit Union of New Jersey, Ewing, has been presented the Large Business of the Year Award by the Ewing Township. The summit features four awards to Ewing Township businesses: Small Business Award, Large Business Award, Most Improved Business and the Commissioner's Award. The Ewing Township Economic Development Commission selects the business recipient for each award.
