SAN DIEGO -California Coast Credit Union and USO World Headquarters haven't forgotten those troops still stationed in Iraq and Kuwait and have joined forces to send them CARE packages. Under Operation USO Care Package, California Coast CU branches are accepting donations of up to $25 or more to sponsor a CARE package for a service man or woman. The packages, assembled by USO Headquarters in Alexandria, Virginia, include lip balm, eye drops, toothbrush, toothpaste, sunscreen, baby wipes, disposable razors, and other necessities. Donors will also have the opportunity to write a personal message that will be sent along with the packages. "We encourage our credit union family to show their support for our troops by participating in this worthwhile program at whatever level they can," said CCCU President/CEO Jim McPheters. "A care package from home shows them that we're thinking about them and we appreciate everything they are doing to protect our country and our freedoms. Some of the troops will remain in the Middle East for months to come so this will help show them we haven't forgotten about them." So far over $1,000 in care package donations has already been raised.
