LOS ANGELES – Members of Western Federal Credit Union voted overwhelming to approve a merger with TRW Systems Federal Credit Union, officials have announced. Ninety-six percent of the Western FCU members who cast votes at a special meeting supported the merger, officials reported. The resulting credit union, which will keep the Western FCU name, will have 125,000 members, assets of $1 billion and operate 20 branches in eight states. Thomas J. Stewart of Western FCU will serve as president and John A. Bommarito of TRWSFCU will be chief executive officer. "I have every confidence that the new credit union will fulfill our continuing mission to provide our members with a broad base of the best financial products and services as well as the superior service that has been the hallmark of Western and TRWSFCU," Stewart said. The merger is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of this year.
