PHILADELPHIA – American Heritage Federal Credit Union has presented Mike Baker with the American Heritage Award, which is presented to an individual whose selfless act exemplifies the philosophy of "people helping people." Baker became a hero by following his instincts to "do the right thing" when he heard a screech followed by a crash, then saw a car sinking through the ice of the Delaware Canal by his house this past January. Working off what he recalls as pure adrenaline, Baker forced the car's door open and pulled the driver to safety. "We want people to pause and think `What would I do in the same situation?'" said AHFCU President/CEO Bruce K. Foulke. "This award serves to encourage more people in our community to extend a helping hand to others."
