WESTBROOK – Credit Unions Share for ME turned one-year old during National Volunteer Appreciation Week. "Until Credit Unions Share for ME, much of the volunteering that credit unions did was anecdotal and hard to quantify," said Maine Credit Union League Director of Communications Jon Paradise. "This program starts to recognize some of thousands of hours that Maine credit unions contribute to the communities and people they serve." So far the volunteer program has logged over 15,000 volunteer hours valued at more than $250,000 helping communities and participating in events across the state. In just its first year, 1,499 credit union volunteers accounted for 15,343 in volunteer hours, which is an average of 1,278.60 volunteer hours a month. In 2002, staffers at York County FCU volunteered the most hours, followed by Oxford FCU, Saco Valley CU, Five County CU and Rainbow FCU employees.
