APPLETON, Wis. – Community First Credit Union has formed an alliance with three area nonprofits to open a new Community Partnership Center. A former credit union branch facility is now home to the Volunteer Center of East Central Wisconsin, the Soleburner Run/Walk, which benefits the American Cancer Society, and the Community First Fox Cities Marathon. CFCU has offered the office space rent-free to all three organizations. According to CFCU President/CEO Catherine Tierney, the organizations' shared vision of community support made the decision easy. "Our Marathon, the Volunteer Center and Soleburner each have expertise and resources we can bring to the table for each other's benefit when it comes to organizing and coordinating events as well as in securing and the utilization of volunteers," said Tierney. We see the Community Partnership Center as an incubator for exchanging ideas and connecting volunteers. This is a win-win for all three organizations housed at the center." The building recently underwent a $40,000 interior renovation, with area contractors making contributions of materials and labor.
