PORTSMOUTH, N.H. – All troops serving in any war look forward to receiving mail from families and friends, but sometimes nothing can beat seeing a loved one's face or hearing their voice. Members of Service Credit Union will soon be able to do just that when they communicate via video conferencing with family members in the military. SCU has video conference capabilities at their corporate offices here, as well as in their Overseas Division Headquarters in Kaisersalutern, Germany. The $770 million credit union is allowing anyone who has a family member in the military and would like to communicate with them using the credit union's video conferencing, to do so, so they'll be able to see and talk to each other using phone lines and video equipment. Service CU, the largest credit union in New Hampshire, counts in its field-of-membership anyone who lives or works in the state, excluding Coos County, and 14 military bases in Germany and four towns in Cape Cod, Mass. SCU President/CEO Gordon Simmons, the immediate past chairman of the Defense Credit Union Council and currently an at-large representative, said "Service Credit Union is proud of its military roots. We started serving military and department of defense personnel stations on Pease Air Force Base in 1957, and we always look for opportunities to enhance our relationship with our members, not only through products and services, but other ways as well."
