NEW YORK – Barbara Kent Esq. was named Acting Superintendent of the New York State Banking Department effective April 2. She succeeds Elizabeth McCaul who resigned as New York State Banking Superintendent March 28 after working in that position for eight years. Dent has been with the NYS Banking Department since 1988 as an attorney. She served briefly as Acting Deputy Superintendent of the Consumer Services Division in 1998. In 1999, she was appointed to the position of Director of Consumer Affairs and Financial Products and has served in that capacity since. Kent is on the board of the Coalition for Consumer Bankruptcy Debtor Education.
