CHULA VISTA, Calif. – Consumers interested in learning which credit unions they're eligible to join now can not only find out the financials' names using the California Credit Union League's Match Up Web site, but also a map showing the CUs' location, address and phone number. Using links to MapQuest.com, Kim Bannan, CCUL VP of credit union development said consumers can pinpoint the locations instantly and see how accessible the credit unions are to them. When visitors first log on to www.joinacu.org, they search for a credit union by choosing a particular state from a pull-down menu, then they enter their employer's name or occupation, city or community, the associations or organizations they belong to, or the school they attend or graduated from. A new screen features the names of credit unions the visitor is eligible to join. When they click on a particular name, a new screen comes up with the CU's address, phone number, Web site, map link, and branch locations. If they click on the map link or a branch name, a new browser window opens up that takes the visitor to MapQuest and generates a street map showing where the CU's office or branch is located. Information on 5,095 credit unions in 21 states and the District of Columbia is currently available on the Match Up Web site.
