JERSEY CITY, N.J. -With reports indicating kidnapping for ransom on the rise, Insurance Services Office, Inc. has teamed up with security firm Amsec International to offer kidnap/ransom and extortion (KR&E) coverage. As part of the crime and fidelity insurance program, the KR&E Insurance Program includes policy forms, endorsements, manuals, and related KR&E materials. The policy coverage includes kidnap/ransom and extortion, for both direct loss resulting from the payment of a ransom demand resulting from a kidnapping or extortion threat and expenses incurred in obtaining the release of a kidnapped victim or resolution of an extortion threat; detention or hijack, for various costs and fees associated with securing the release of a detained or hijacked person; and in-transit delivery of property, for loss of money being delivered as ransom while in the care and custody of a messenger. In addition, Amsec International will offer policyholders its expertise in hostage negotiations, crisis response, and crime risk management. Among the services offered include threat analysis and reporting; crisis communication consulting; physical security surveys; route security surveys; background checks and Web threat assessment and notification.
