ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – One expert health opinion is not enough at PSCU Financial Services. Employees here who have been diagnosed with a serious condition and who are anxious for a second opinion before starting medical treatment will now be able to do so as part of a new health benefit. Created by PSCU Financial President David Serlo, the Second Opinion Medical Program will pay the travel expenses for employees and dependents with catastrophic illnesses to get a secondary medical opinion. Covered expenses include two plane tickets, two nights of lodging and other travel expenses. Participation in the program is available through a voluntary payroll deduction of as little as $1 a pay period up to a $20 per pay period maximum. All employees who contribute can access the benefit, regardless of the amount they have contributed to the program. “This voluntary, employee-funded program enables our people to travel to world-class specialists, such as the Cleveland Clinic, M.D. Anderson, and Johns Hopkins Medical Center, in order to make what may be the most important decision of their lives,” said Serlo. “This benefit showcases our commitment to taking care of our employees. Programs like this create happy, satisfied employees, and these employees enable our company to offer outstanding service to our member-owners and their members.”
