OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – The ATM Zone, the cooperative of 10 Oklahoma credit unions that have decided to offer their members fee-free access to their machines and to pool their resources for ATM deployment, has added new machines. New ATMs in Oklahoma City, Stillwater and Edmund bring the cooperative's total number to nearly 70, the ATM Zone announced. "This is a particularly good deal for many Oklahomans," said Mark Kelly, an ATM Zone official. "Most financial institutions will charge non-customers or non-members a fee ranging from $1 to $2.50 per ATM transaction. Now they will be able to save some money," Kelly said. The combined membership of the participating credit unions is over 300,000, the Zone reported. Brent Taylor, Executive Vice President of the $333 million WEOKIE Credit Union, based in Oklahoma City, one of the participating institutions, is on record as saying that the participating credit unions had not chosen to join CO-OP Network or any other because they were basically happy with their processors. We just didn't want to charge our members for ATM access, he said.
