FARMERS BRANCH, Texas – The Texas Credit Union League is asking for credit unions' help in getting full funding for the state's Credit Union Department to adequately regulate and examine Texas' 248 state-chartered credit unions. TCUL says the department needs $3.7 million to be adequately funded. The agency is funded entirely by CU assessments. Credit unions, says the league, should write their state representative urging them to support full funding for the Credit Union Department and to state in their correspondence that, "A time of economic downturn is not the time to cut financial institution regulation."
