WASHINGTON-The bankruptcy reform bill is expected to get its first hearing this time around in the early part of March. While the bill had not been introduced at press time, the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Courts, the Internet, Intellectual Property has scheduled a hearing for March 4 at 2 p.m., according to Judiciary Committee staff. House Judiciary Chairman Jim Sensenbrenner (R-Wis.) was expected to introduce a bill similar to the last one, but without the clinic violence amendment, prior to the hearing. As in the past, credit unions and their trade associations have their eyes on three key provisions: means testing, mandatory financial counseling, and voluntary reaffirmations for credit union members.
