LATHAM, N.Y. – The New York State Credit Union League has joined the World Council of Credit Unions, a move the League says will “expand access for New York credit unions to useful products and services, as well as to support the credit union movement worldwide,” a League release stated. The NYSCUL is already making plans to introduce WOCCU’s International Remittance Network (IRnet) to New York credit unions. The League said IRnet, a secure and economical money transfer service, is ideally suited to New York’s immigrant credit union members who need to send money back to family in other countries. “The league has much to gain by joining WOCCU,” sand Susan Landauer, senior vice president of member services for the NYSCUL. “The combination of content and services WOCCU offers creates a very strong value proposition for our credit unions.” WOCCU President/CEO Arthur Arnold will be the keynote speaker at the League’s Annual Convention in June.
