SAN DIMAS, Calif. – There aren't many drafty hallways in WesCorp's headquarters. The Environmental Protection Agency gave the $19 billion corporate's headquarters its ENERGY STAR designation for its energy-efficient practices and modern management control systems for lighting, air and water. "The ENERGY STAR designation puts WesCorp in the top 25% of buildings in the U.S. for energy efficiency," said Francis Kuhn, Vice President, Facilities and Administration. Kuhn and his team spearheaded WesCorp's three-year effort to achieve the EPA status. Kuhn also noted that what makes the ENERGY STAR designation even more remarkable is WesCorp's extensive hours of operation -virtually 24/7 for its climate-controlled computer operations and 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. for its corporate offices. Buildings qualify for ENERGY STAR by earning a score of 75 or higher on a 100-point national energy performance rating scale, which compares buildings across America with others of similar characteristics. Buildings that have earned the label use about 40% less energy than average buildings, with no compromise in comfort.
