NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – There's a new shared branching credit union service center in town and NCUA Chairman Dennis Dollar stopped by for a visit. Formed 10 years ago by 50 Virginia-based credit unions, the Credit Union Service Company of Virginia, LLC (CUSCVA) has officially opened its state-of-the-art facility. The new 3,200 square-foot facility is the first shared branch constructed and owned by CUSCVA. The other eight shared branching facilities are leased. "For all the recent technological leaps we've made in financial services, many credit union members equate convenience and accessibility with personal service branches. This new branch will allow us to provide better and more efficient service to an estimated 35,000 credit union members," said CUSCVA Board Chairman Greg Manweiler. Marrying "high tech" and "high touch" the new branch offers members the option of face-to-face interaction with member services representatives, drive-thru lanes with "personal" interaction via video screen, or video-enabled kiosks. "Virginia continues to be a pacesetter in shared branching," said Michael Culbertson, president of the national Credit Union Service Corporation. "This facility is yet another demonstration of the success Virginia has enjoyed, with a number of the state's shared facilities consistently ranking among the most active in our network."
