Washington State Employees Credit Union, Olympia, volunteers contributed to their community with two projects. WSECU employees and their family members and friends participated in the Heart Walk, raising $4,200 for the American Heart Association, which exceeded their goal by 140%. In addition, WSECU executives painted eight public housing units serving special needs as part of the United Way Day of Caring. Redstone Federal Credit Union, Huntsville, Ala., has partnered with Access Chiropractic Center to sponsor Kids Day America. Kids Day America is a national event sponsored by chiropractors across the nation to provide an opportunity for children in the community to learn about health, safety, and the environment. Activities for the day included The Honorable Loretta Spencer, Mayor of the City of Huntsville, presenting event coordinators with an official declaration for Kids Day America; the D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) program and fingerprinting; fire truck tours; spinal screenings provided by Access Chiropractic Center; and door prizes and mascots. All proceeds from the event will go to various charities around the nation. Hope Place, a shelter for victims of domestic violence, was selected for the Huntsville/Madison County area. Arizona Credit Union System, Phoenix, has announced that 20 teams representing 13 credit unions took the field to raise funds for the Children's Miracle Network's Credit Unions for Kids benefiting Phoenix Children's Hospital and Tucson Medical Center. The tournament raised over $5,000 for the hospitals. Going undefeated, the Arizona Credit Union System team took first place; Chicanos Por La Causa Federal CU second; Desert Schools Federal CU third; and placing fourth this year was Bashas Associates Federal CU.
